My Bridal Makeup look!

, , , , , , , , , , , ,

Friday I had my bridal portraits and I have finalized how I want my makeup on my wedding day!

Everything I said I was going to use (see previous post) I pretty much used. Obviously I decided to use the matte eye makeup colors with false lashes. And the blush im using is “Plum Foolery” by MAC- my favorite!! I also used just a basic liquid liner with a brown liner on the botton waterline. I had some dark spots along my jawline from some stubborn breakouts but I concealed it with Lancome’s Effacernces concealer underneath my foundation. It is my favorite concealer because it is waterproof and could seriously hide ANYTHING.

It was quite hot and humid on Friday, not to mention wearing a 20 pound wedding gown. However, my makeup stayed on perfectly all day long!!

Once again, im so sorry for the delay in making new posts but this wedding has me so busy! 🙂

Wedding Day Makeup!

I’m counting down the days to our wedding (hence why I have not had time to post everyday), and one of the things on my to-do list was figuring out my “Wedding Day Look”. For the longest time I was over-thinking my makeup look. I thought about having someone do my makeup for me but I finally decided because makeup is my passion I would not be satisfied with anyone’s makeup artistry except my own.

Foundation: Estee Lauder Double Wear – “Desert Beige”

I’ve ranted and raved over this foundation (see earlier posts), so it’s no surprise I am using this long lasting humidity-proof foundation!

Powder- MAC Mineralize Loose Powder – “Light”

I bought this the other day because I wanted a non-heavy powder. I had been using Lancome’s Dual Finish Powder, which is AMAZING by the way, but it is far too matte for photographs. This particular MAC powder gives my face just the right amount of glow and really leaves my face looking smooth and flawless. Also, considering it is going to be 90+ degrees fahrenheit the day of my wedding, I wanted my face to be able to “breathe” instead of just separating and getting oily. You will love this powder!!

Blush- I’m still trying to decide! What is a flattering natural-looking blush that you girls recommend?

Eyeshadow- MAC’s Paintpot in “Painterly”, Shadow in “Brule”, Shadow in “Espresso”… Maybe?

I just want a natural look, I’m trying to stay away from shimmer because I don’t want the photographs to look bad. But these two eyeshadows together give plenty of definition, which is what I want. 🙂 I am thinking about trying some of my Urban Decay Naked Palette colors to see how they would look/photograph. The more I think about it, the more I think the “shimmer” really wont matter as far as photographs go.

Eyeliner- Black Liquid Liner & Merle Norman’s “Teak” Eyeliner

Any Black Liner will do. I’m going to use Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess collection liquid liner duo. The Merle Norman liner in “Teak” is to be used on the bottom (waterline). It is a chocolate brown shade and the formula is so creamy! I’m obsessed with it, and the thing is it has been around forever… so you kind of need to try it if you haven’t already.

Mascara- Maybelline Falsies (waterproof)

I love this mascara so much. I like the non-waterproof formula better because it doesn’t seem to clump as much. But I know I will definitely need waterproof on my big day!

And of course I will be wearing some fake lashes. I cannot decide what lashes would look best and more natural!! I thought about wispies or the individual lashes, but I know the individuals are time-consuming and I will be a nervous wreck the day of so perhaps it isn’t the best idea.

Lips- Merle Norman Lip Pencil Plus Duo “Sugared Maple”

This is another product you have to try! One end is a liner, the other end is the actual lip color. This particular color is just beautiful! The liner is a plum, and the lip color itself is a soft pink and it gives perfect dimension to the lips. It’s also non-drying and does not make my lips peel. Unfortunately, you cannot order Merle Norman products online but you can find a Merle Norman store near you or call a store and order by phone. I believe these particular lip pencils run about $20.

Urban Decay’s Vice Palette Review

As you girls know, I’m obsessed with Urban Decay. I have yet to be disappointed or felt as though I wasted my money. The Vice Palette is no different; It’s the best $50 I’ve spent (besides the Naked Palette of course). Unlike the Naked Palettes, the Vice Palette was made for the makeup dare-devil. It has the most vivid blues, pinks, greens, and purples; the possibilities are endless!!

The 5 colors at the top are:

Desperation: A gorgeous smoky brown (shimmer).

Muse: A rich chocolatey brown, a MUST for any beauty guru. 🙂 (shimmer)

Jagged: A light greenish yellow with a tint of gold- one of my favorites! The fallout is a little bad with this one, but the color itself is beautiful. (shimmer)

Blitz: A vivid yellow gold, this color really “pops” when used with any of the brighter colors! (shimmer)

Penny Lane: A copper, like the color of a penny! Reminds me of a color from my Naked Palette. (shimmer)

The next 5 in the palette are:

Junkie: As you know I’m a sucker for greens, so this is my favorite! It’s a beautiful glitzy emerald green (shimmer)

Chaos: I’m iffy about this shade. It’s very dull and you have to really pack it on to get the outcome you want. It would probably look best with a blue cream underneath. (matte)

Occupy: This is a deep navy although it is hard to tell from the picture. It is another one of my favorites! (shimmer)

Unhinged: I like to call this one “mermaid blue”, it is a gorgeous aqua color. (shimmer)

Black Market: Just your basic black with little to no sparkle. (semi-matte)

The Next 5:

Provocateur: This color is my number 1 favorite of all time! I can’t even tell you how much I am in love with this color. First of all, apply it with a wet brush on a VERY primed eye because the fallout is so ridiculous. It contains huge chunks of glitter but that’s what makes it amazing. (shimmer-duh)

Rapture: A very deep purple. It’s a very pretty shade but personally I don’t like it that well because it tends to turn grey on me depending upon which colors I use with it.

Vice: A vivid shade of purple and this looks straight up awesome with my green eyes. If you have green eyes this will bring them out tremendously (as with any purple). (shimmer)

Noise: A hot pink with chunks of glitter. Personally, it is hard for me to find a truly hot pink eyeshadow and I was so excited to use this one! The color is actually very matte with awkward sprinklings of glitter in it, which I don’t really care for. But overall the color is pretty! (semi-matte)

Armor: Just your typical grey. Eh, what can I say I just don’t use grey very much. (shimmer)

The final 5:

I think all of these were meant to be brow highlighters, I found most of these were too dark or too pink.

Nevermind: A light taupe color. Very pretty as a soft contour color. It actually reminds me of a lighter version of “Sidecar” from the original Naked palette. (shimmer)

Echo Beach: A sand shade. This could be used as a brow highlighter although a find it a tad bit dark for a highlight. I actually prefer to use this as a face highlighter. 🙂 (shimmer)

Anonymous: This is a nice nude shade/light sandy taupe. Very similar to MAC’s Brule shadow. (matte)

Free Bird: A light cotton candy pink. This pairs very well with alot of the shades in this palette.

Laced: A very light brown. Who doesn’t need a basic basic brown? (matte)

Overall: This palette will not disappoint. I do find myself using shades I already have to pair with some of the shades in this palette. The colors are very pigmented for the most part. Urban Decay is known for their creamy-like powder shadows, and this Vice Palette is no exception!

Turquoise Tuesday: A Pictorial

I picked up some goodies this past weekend. Im so obsessed with green eyeshadow because I find it very flattering for anyone with green eyes like me. And when I spotted Lancome’s Color Design Infinité 24H Eyeshadow in “Enduring Vert” I had to purchase! Lancome products are kind of pricey but it came with a 7 piece free gift (I will review the gift later this week) so it was worth the money!

To acheive this look I first contoured my eyes with MAC’s “Espresso”:

Then I applied Maybelline Color Tattoo in “Edgy Emerald” on the ball of the eye. Only apply the color tattoo where you want to put your green shadow.

Next, take a flat brush and apply Lancome’s “Enduring Vert”- be sure to press it onto the lid to really pack the color on. Then I followed with a thin line of liquid liner in black:

Next I applied MAC’s “Carbon” eyeshadow, any black shadow should do though. And then blend, blend, blend! And finish with your favorite Mascara.

And you’re done!! I went to lunch today and I’ve already received so many compliments on my shadow!! The enduring vert shadow is so pigmented it only takes a little. I plan on doing a thorough review on the Lancome Color Infinité shadows soon so be on the lookout. Please follow and make requests! Thanks for reading!

My Favorite Products for Break-outs:

, , , , , , , , , , , , ,

I made a boo-boo this weekend. I went to sleep with makeup on… and guess what? I have 4 huge pimples to prove it! Luckily, I have a few miracle products for breakouts.

Merle Norman Clarifying Clay Mask:

I use this about once a week all over my face. It contains Kaolin Clay which is AH-MAZING for oily skin like mine! It draws about impurities and really dries out any pimples one may have. It goes on like a white paste and dries tightly to the skin, then you simply rinse off with water after about 20 minutes. When I get a stubborn pimple I will put a dab on it before I go to sleep and when I wake up it will be almost gone. This bottle will run you about $20 or so, but it had lasted me over 2 years!!

Clinique’s Acne Solutions Spot Healing Gel:

This is literally a miracle in a bottle. I cannot express how amazing it is. I’m not sure what is in this little miracle bottle, but it dries up ANY pimple within about 30 minutes. I carry this in my purse in case I get an annoying zit. The great thing about this is that it can be used on top of makeup! Just dab a little on the problem area and you’ll feel it working (it stings a little, but that’s how you know it is working). I sometimes put this on at night when I don’t feel like using my clay mask, and it will make a pimple disappear… poof… gone. I recommend this to all my customers even though I don’t promote Clinique. Like seriously, everyone needs this. ($16)

Thanks so much for reading and continue to like and follow! Please let me know if you have any requests!!

Foundation Friday: Estee Lauder Double Wear

, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Yesterday I was so busy and had no time to post about anything! I’m getting married in 5 weeks so yesterday consisted of Thank You cards, making hostess gifts for my bridal shower tomorrow, and getting pictures framed! Life is busy busy busy right now.

Let’s talk about foundation! I have used several different types of foundation. To me, foundation is something that is OK to splurge on. I have found a happy medium as far as a quality, fairly inexpensive foundation: Estee Lauder’s Double Wear ($36). I know, I know, you’re probably thinking $36 is not “fairly inexpensive” but trust me, by the time you’ve bought your 3rd CoverGirl foundation in your correct shade just to find out you don’t like the coverage- you could’ve bought the Double Wear and been 1000% more pleased! I love this stuff. Even when I worked for Lancome, I wore this awesome foundation- Hey, when you like it… you like it!!

The finish is semi-matte and oil free/oil controlling which is a plus for me considering I have combination oily skin. Double Wear is medium to full coverage, but is not heavy and does not clog pores. It stays on all day and is humidity resistant which is important if you live in the south like me! But don’t worry, if you have dry skin you can still wear this foundation! Just use a good moisturizer or illuminating primer underneath. It truly gives a “flawless” effect without looking “made up”!P1040954

I also love how it pours out rather than being a pump foundation; I find that it’s easier to get the last drop out of the bottle this way. I just pour a small amount on the back of my hand and apply it with my fingers. I know that applying with the fingers is not politically correct in the makeup world, but hey it works for me and saves me from having to wash a brush everyday. And until I get a beauty blender sponge, fingers will do.

Estee Lauder recently reconstructed the formula of this foundation and added new shades to accommodate more skin tones. I went to EL’s website and the Double Wear foundation had very poor reviews, but it was mainly people complaining about the formula change (which I have not noticed). I think a lot of people freak out when a formula changes in their favorite product. I wear Desert Beige, and I have not noticed a change in color formula nor in the foundation formula itself considering I have been wearing it for about a year and a half.

A lot of people wear Double Wear by itself, I prefer a powder to set it. The coverage found in Double Wear is so outstanding you can use just a sheer powder to set it. Also, I do not have to use a concealer because the double wear performs so well!

Working in the makeup industry, believe me when I tell you this is a great foundation! It is worth every penny! Stop by your local Estee Lauder counter and request a sample of foundation. If you prefer less coverage but still want the staying power, try the Double Wear Light. Estee Lauder gives foundation samples all the time because they know if you try it you will love it!

What im loving Wednesday: Coral Lips

, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Its summertime so now I can wear bright coral lipstick without people looking at me like I am crazy. Anyone who knows me knows that I am all about bright, bold lips… especially coral ones. And I have 3 favorites that I think you should own!

I personally try to buy good quality lipsticks because my lips tend to flake with “cheaper” formulas. Also I prefer lipsticks that stay on most of the day without having to reapply.

1. MAC’S “Vegas Volt” is a coral with the slightest touch of pink. I love MAC lipstixks because although they do not claim to be longlasting, they usually are. This is a very creamy lipstick that doesnt necessarily need a gloss on top. $18

2. Estee Lauder’s “Solar Crush” is a part of this summer’s Bronze Goddess collection. It is a true coral and the compliments are endless when I wear this lipstick. It is very bold, yet a true statement color to accentuate any look. This color does tend to bleed after about 5 hours but if worn with a liner it wont bleed. This is a limited edition shade so be sure to look for it asap if you plan on buying. $25

3. Lancome’s Rouge In Love “340” is a beautiful coral-pink. It has more pink than the other two, but its so pretty! I really suggest that you check out the rest of the Rouge In Love lipsticks because there are tons of unbelievably vivid colors. The texture of this one applies very creamy but when it dries it can get too dry, so put a gloss on it. The finish is matte and stands out in any makeup look. $25

Today’s coral was Lancome’s 340:

Lancome wins the award for the most long-lasting! I just got off work and my lips are still coral, not as bright, but the coral is still there.

Tanning Tuesday

, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

A few weeks ago I bought 2 Jergens Natural Glow Products. One being the Natural Glow Moisturizer in “Medium to Tan”, and the second being the Natural Glow Foaming Moisturizer in “Medium to Tan”. At Walmart each bottle of Jergens Glow had a $3.00 off any 2 coupon.

I had read great reviews on the products and decided to give them a try since they are safer and cheaper than a tanning bed. So I took a shower and was sure to exfoliate very well, dried off really well and then applied the Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer in place of my normal post-shower moisturizer.  The bottle said “Now without odor” so I was super happy about that. When applying the moisturizer I did not notice any change in the color of my skin and there was a slight “self tanner smell”, but my skin did feel moisturized. Later that night I smelled horribly of self tanner, it was honestly awful! Jergens should honestly be ashamed of labeling their products with “no odor”, that had to be some sort of joke.

I followed the same routine for several more days. After about 3 days people started noticing my “glow”. Note that you are not going to look like a bronze goddess after using this, however you will look flatteringly sunkissed. Also note that it takes about 3 minutes to dry. I doubt it would stain clothes, but you dont want splotchy skin either.

On to the foaming moisturizer… I felt of this foaming “moisturizer” before I used it and I felt little to no moisture. Therefore, I decided to use this a few hours after using my St. Ives moisturizer. It was decent. It dried fairly quickly which made it kind of difficult to know where it had been applied. It will certainly continue the “glowing” process but I think I will stick with my regular Jergens Glow Moisturizer.

Overall, I prefer the moisturizer over the foam. Although it takes longer to dry, at least it provides moisture and its easier to tell where it has been applied. Both provide the same color intensity, but keep in mind it will take a few days until you begin to see color. If you can deal with the odor, for about $6 its pretty good!
